Adding an Indicator Column to a Portlet

You can add certain indicator types as columns to provide context to data in matrix portlets, measures portlets, and diver portlets. ClosedExample.

NOTE: Matrix portlets require a Measure Factory license.

The following procedures describe adding an indicator column to an existing portlet, but you can add one as part of the portlet creation as well.

  1. Open the Edit <Diver or Measures> Portlet Closeddialog box.

    1. Browse to the page that contains the portlet that you want to edit.

    2. On the DivePort toolbar, click Edit to unlock the page and enable edit mode.

    3. Right-click the portlet that you want to edit, and then on the context menu, click Edit.

  2. Click Add Indicator.

    NOTE: Only indicators that can be used as portlet columns are available in the Type list.

  3. Select an indicator Type, and then click OK.

  4. Edit the indicator options the way you want, and then click OK.

    The indicator type, alert in this example, is added to the Edit <Diver or Measures> Portlet Closeddialog box, Column list.

    TIP: Columns appear in the listed order. For maximum impact, use a drag-and-drop operation to place the indicator column next to the column it references.

  5. Click OK.

  6. On the DivePort toolbar, click Save to exit edit mode and lock the page.

—Measure Factory License

  1. Open the Edit <Portlet Type> Portlet Closed dialog box.

    1. Browse to the page that contains the portlet that you want to edit.

    2. On the DivePort toolbar, click Edit to unlock the page and enable edit mode.

    3. Right-click the portlet that you want to edit, and then on the context menu, click Edit.

  2. Click Add a column.

  3. Select an indicator type, and then click Next.

    Available options vary, depending on the type of indicator.

  4. Continue to follow the instructions provided in the Edit Portlet wizard to customize indicator properties, and then click OK.

TIP: When a horizontal indicator is used in a column, space limitations require that the baseline is the only value that is labeled on the axis. Showing the baseline value and not the data value can confuse users. You can prevent the scale from appearing by setting the Axes setting, Hide Axes.
