Using Production

This section provides information about using the Production interface in Workbench.

When considering how to handle your processing steps, be aware that production scripts can be configured to handle the following types of tasks using process nodes:

• Defining parameters (Parameters in Production and Creating Script-Level Parameters)
• Building Models and cBases (Build Model Process Node and Build cBase Process Node)
• Accessing files with Copy (Copy Process Node), Delete (Delete Process Node), Mkdir (Mkdir Process Node), FTP (FTP Process Node), SSH (SSH Process Node), and triggers (Trigger Process Node)
• Compressing and decompressing files (Zip Process Node and Unzip Process Node)
• Running Integrator or Production scripts (Integ Process Node and Production Process Node)
• Running Measure Factory build or Spectre Measures scripts (Build Factory Process Node)
• Controlling branch execution (Delay Process Node)
• Executing Operating System commands (Execute Process Node)
• Executing DIAL scripts to email reports to end users (DIAL Process Node)
• Printing DivePort pages ( PrintDP Process Node)
• Caching updated data to speed up synch and dive times (CacheDT Process Node (DiveTab), Spectre Cache Refresh Process Node)

Each script has a specific start and end point, but may include control nodes for the following scenarios:

• Setting conditions to control process flow (Conditional Control Node)
• Setting up loops for repetitive tasks (Loop Control Node)
• Branching the process flow to run tasks in parallel (Fork Control Node)
• Waiting for triggers to continue (Wait Control Node)

NOTE:

• If you are familiar with DI-Production in Diver Solution 6.4, version 7.x functionality includes some new process nodes: Build cBase Process Node, CacheDT Process Node (DiveTab), Build Factory Process Node, Delay Process Node, and Spectre Cache Refresh Process Node.
• In 6.4, the main screen of DI-Production shows all the scheduled scripts on the server. In 7.x, these scheduled scripts display on the Start Page (see Managing Start Page Schedules).
• Any file reference in a Production Node is case-sensitive when your underlying operating system is Linux. For example, if a file is called /temp/sample.txt, the file will not be found in Production if it is referenced as /temp/Sample.txt.
