Factory Setup Rules

Measure Factory setup rules identify columns that are imported to the data set during setup from data input or plugin input. Columns that are not included in the setup rules are excluded from the build. However, if there are no setup rules defined, all input columns are imported as rules.

The Measure Factory can import rules from data input (cBase, Spectre Dive, ODBC, text file, or Tunnel) or plugin input sources.

• If using data input, you can use setup-rule tags to identify columns that you want to define as setup data rules.

• If using plugin input, you can use plugin-rule tags to identify columns that you want to define as setup plugin rules.

• The combination of setup data rules and setup plugin rules make up the setup rules for the data set.

DI recommends that you automatically include all setup rules if any metadata is required.

After you run a factory configuration file, you can examine the Workbench output to see the number of rows and rules (columns) that were processed.
