Password Reset Settings

When the authentication type is OWN and Email has been configured on the Server, you can configure a Forgot Your Password? link to appear on the DivePort logon screen. This allows any user to request a password reset. This is a DiveLine-wide setting, not specific for a particular user or DivePort portal.

To set the DivePort password reset option:

  1. Open the DiveLine connection (see Opening and Closing Connections).

  2. Select Tools > Server Settings > General.

  3. Expand the User Management section.

  4. Select the Allow Password Reset check box, and click Password Reset Settings.

The ClosedPassword Reset Settings dialog box opens.

  5. Set the following items:

    • Set the number of minutes allowed for the user to reset the password.
    • Enter a From email address (required).
    • Customize the subject line.
    • Enter a generic message for all portals. You may also want to remind users about the required elements in a new password. The email that is sent includes a link to the DivePort where the user requested the password reset.
    • NOTE: You can suppress inclusion of the DivePort URL and user name with a set command. See the Boolean examples in Set Commands.
  6. Click OK.

  7. Save the Server Settings tab.

In the DivePort Logon dialog box, a Forgot Your Password? link now appears, and a user can request a password reset.

When clicking this link, users are asked to supply their user name and are informed that an email message was sent.

NOTE: For this to work as expected:

  • The DiveLine administrator must configure email notifications for the DiveLine in Workbench (see Email Notifications)
  • The DiveLine administrator must associate email addresses with user accounts as defined in Workbench (see Managing Users)
  • The DivePort users might need to refresh the DivePort instance that is open in their browser.
