About Single Input DivePlans
Single Input DivePlans do not share all the functionality found in Consolidated or Multilevel DivePlans. As the name implies, you can specify only one model, tunnel, cBase, or cPlan. Single Input DivePlans are the only type of DivePlan that supports cBases and cPlans. This is sufficient because cBases and cPlans can contain already consolidated data that might be spread over several models, such as models that contain data for specific time periods.
Typically, you would choose a Single Input DivePlan in the following circumstances:
- To allow power users to use Workbench to refine the DivePlans to present cBase data
- To add additional organizational structure to a model, cPlan, or cBase
For example, you might select a Single Input DivePlan type if you only wanted to accomplish the following:
- Add Categories that group similar dimensions together in the ProDiver Console for ease of use
- Add a lookup file to a core dimension to create additional Info Fields for diving
- Promote Info Fields to dynamic dimensions
Unlike Consolidated or Multilevel DivePlans, a Single Input DivePlan is not expandable; it can only contain one Model, tunnel, cBase, or cPlan. Additionally, the Single Input DivePlan cannot contain nested DivePlans, and you cannot alias columns.
When you open DiveMaster, the start page defaults to Consolidate because it is the most commonly used DivePlan type for models. You can choose Single Input by selecting the tab.
NOTE: When working with models, to allow for future DivePlan expansion, you should typically choose a Consolidated or Multilevel DivePlan.
