About Map Data Files
DI distributes a compressed file of US map data that you can use to produce maps in ProDiver. To obtain this map data zip file, request a copy from DI Technical Support at [email protected] (US), or [email protected] (outside of the US). In addition to creating maps, you can use these files as a template to create custom maps. Alternatively, some third-party software tools can be used if they meet ProDiver format requirements.
A ProDiver map set contains up to 10 map layers, also called geographic types. Each layer represents an area level of the map. The US map file distributed by DI has six named layers and four additional layers available for customization.
1. | World | 6. | Zip (postal) code |
2. | State | 7. | Custom1 |
3. | County | 8. | Custom2 |
4. | MSA | 9. | Custom3 |
5. | MCD |
10.
|
Custom4 |
Each layer displays different borders within the same territory (US).
To create maps in ProDiver, the map directory must be located on the client computer. Each data set is stored in a separate folder in the map directory. In ProDiver, identify the map directory on the Window > Preferences dialog box, Maps tab.
If you want to use an optional lookup.mdl file, a copy of the lookup model must be installed on the DiveLine server as well.
NOTE: These MapData sets are used by the ProDiver client to display maps, and by the DivePort client when displaying ProDiver map marker files. DivePort also has access to additional map data and web map services, which are not available to ProDiver.
