About Background Portlets

Use a background portlet to create simple graphical elements on a DivePort page. Background portlets provide a setting for the content. For example, grouping and labeling data by topic, setting off different portal elements, or providing designs to create a unique look and feel. There are four types of background portlets:

  • Line—Draws a line. Line background portlets are often used to separate elements in a portal.

You can use multiple instances of each type on a page, and you can overlap background portlets to create visual effects.

Background portlets are most useful when a page uses a manual layout, but they can be used on other page layouts.
