Adding a File Collection to a Document Library
You can add a collection of files to a document library to allow DivePort users access to those files.
For example, the following figure shows a collection of related files located in a folder on a local computer.
To create a library for the collection, and load the files to it:
-
On the DivePort toolbar, select ADMIN > Document Libraries.
The Document Libraries
list opens.
-
Click New.
The Add Document Library
dialog box opens.
-
Enter a Name for the new document library and then click OK.
-
The new library is added to the Document Libraries list.
-
<New_library_name>.xml and <New_library_name>.txt files are created in the tables directory, for example DI Documentation.xml and DI Documentation.txt
-
A <New_library_name> folder is added to the library directory, for example\doc-libraries\DI Documentation
-
- Copy the files that you want to add to the library from your local computer to the server DI\Solution\webdata\<diveport>\doc-libraries\<new_library_name> folder.
-
On the DivePort toolbar, select ADMIN > Document Libraries.
The Document Libraries list shows that the new library is now populated.
-
Add a Table Editor portlet to a page.
- Use the <New_library_name> library.
- Be sure that the path and URL
attributes are visible.
For more information, see Adding a Portlet to a Page, and Table Editor Portlet Options.
-
Verify that the documents appear on the Table Editor portlet
instance.
-
On the toolbar, click Save to save the portlet and lock the page.
TIP: To change the width of a column on the locked page, place the pointer on the
line that separates the column headings, and when the cursor changes to a double-headed arrow, use a click-and-drag operation to adjust the column width.
- Click a Download arrow to verify that you can download a document.
- Click Add Document to verify that you can add a document to the library.
NOTE: This procedure creates copies of the original files. If the files are updated at the source, those updates are not reflected in the document library. Similarly, updates to the document library are not reflected in the source.
