Default Search Path (6.4 DiveLine Namespace)

The Default Search Path for a 6.4 DiveLine Namespace is a list of logical directory names, where the order in the list dictates the order of search by DiveLine. It is a configurable path that DiveLine uses to search for files within the file system. The Default Search Path is optional and is set by an administrator, not an end user. However, each user can also have an individual user search path list defined in their profile that takes precedence over this default list. You manage user-specific search paths using DI-Config.

The default directory structure for the DiveLine server includes a root directory called dl-dataroot. Within this directory is a data directory which is the default location of all DI files such as Models, Markers, DivePlans, or DiveBooks. However, best practices reconfigure DiveLine by using aliases to specify additional directories for storing files. Once aliases are added as possible locations for DI files, you can specify the Default Search Path by which DiveLine searches these directories as it attempts to resolve file attributes when opening a Marker.

You set the system wide Default Search Paths in the ClosedOptions section of the Server Settings > General tab (ToolsServer Settings > General > 6.4 DiveLine Namespace). Click the expand chevron to display these settings.
