About Named Group Lookup Files

A named group lookup is an external file that lists named groups added to a DivePlan. A named group lookup is external to and can be shared across markers in the Diver client. The first column must be a core dimension, while other columns are treated as named groups.

To associate a core dimension value with a named group, any text entered in a cell (the intersection of the named group and dimension value) is acceptable. The following table illustrates a lookup that contains values of Boston, North, X, or YES.

Salesperson Named Group - Boston

Named Group - North

Henry Boston
Bailey Boston
Fallon   North
Carroll   North
Henry X
Bailey X
Fallon   X
Carroll   X
Henry YES
Bailey YES
Fallon   YES
Carroll   YES

Once added to a DivePlan, you can use and reference the lookup in Diver client calculations and save the file in markers just like with named groups directly created in Diver. However, you cannot use Diver to edit named groups created through a named group lookup file. Also, you cannot create a new named group with a name that matches an existing name in Diver or in an existing lookup file.

If you add a named group lookup file with a named group that already exists in the DivePlan, the named group in the DivePlan takes precedence. The result: Diver ignores the named group created from the lookup file.
