Integrator Overview
NOTE: This section of the help system describes the core Integrator functionality. Most users now use Visual Integrator to define objects and compose scripts.
Integrator is an ETL tool that allows multiple data sources to be combined, manipulated, and saved in a variety of ways. The resulting output can be used to create cBases or classic models. Integrator is compiled to run natively on a variety of operating systems.
Integrator tasks are contained in scripts developed using the Dimension Insight (DI) language called the DI-Object Language. The fundamental building blocks of the language are object definitions. For each object you define various attributes and values to specify data sources, define operations to be performed on the data, as well as where and how to format the output. Integrator scripts are saved as ASCII text files.
Visual Integrator is a graphical user interface that sits on top of Integrator. Visual Integrator generates the underlying code for the Integrator script while you are able to visually create the flow of your data. Ultimately, Visual Integrator runs Integrator or the Spectre engine when processing scripts.
