The data type period refers to a period of time such as a quarter, half year, or tertile. Spectre can handle a variety of periods, based on the calendars provided. A calendar is required to map periods to real dates. A calendar in Spectre represents a collection of period types. Spectre supports built-in calendars as well as custom calendars.
