Spectre Build Output Object

The Spectre Build Output object specifies the location for the new cBase.

The output object has four sections in the properties panel where you set or examine attributes.

Attribute Description

Output

Defines the location and file name for the cBase output. If the output path string is more than a file name, then the target sub directory must already exist relative to the current working directory. If the cbase extension is not supplied, it is automatically appended at runtime.

Extract Time

Defines an extract-time that describes when the input data was extracted from the source data.

  • If extract-time has the value "now", the extract time will be set to the build time.
  • The build time is recorded automatically and is available in Diver Reports using $BUILD_DATE and $BUILD_TIME.
  • If specified, extract-time should be given a date in the form "YYYY-MM-DD" or a timestamp in the format "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS".
  • If only a date is given, the time will be set to 12 noon of that date.
  • The value is used in Diver Reports or Report Palettes to populate the $EXTRACT_DATE and $EXTRACT_TIME variables.

Description

Includes text information in the cBase that is available to ProDiver Reports through the variable $COMMENTS.

Locale

Ensures correct handling of monetary and date data. Include this tag if you are working in a non-English setting, or to ensure consistency for multiple cBase inputs.

NOTE: Combining cBases with different locales is not possible in 7.0, but can be done in Build scripts starting with Spectre 7.1.

Each object has an area where you can enter comments for documentation purposes.

It is a DI best practice to enter a note for every object in a Spectre build script.

You add cBase level user properties in the User defined properties panel.

  1. Click the plus icon.

    A new row appears in the property table.

  2. In the Property Name column, enter a unique name.
  3. In the Type column, select Property or CustomProperty.
  4. In the Values column, type in possible values.
  5. In the Type of Value column, select the data type that matches the value.
  6. Click the plus icon to add more rows.
Attribute Description
Property Name

Gives the property a name.
Type

Indicates a generic or custom property. The former uses the property tag, the latter the custom-property tag.

NOTE:

  • A property defined on the build level defines a property to be associated with the cBase.
  • A custom-property defined for a cBase is available to ProDiver Reports using the variable $MODEL_VAR().
  • The custom-property tag is also used to define a footer, which is accessed in ProDiver using either $MODEL_VAR() or $MODEL_FOOTER.

Values

Supplies possible values for the named property. Expressions such as param() are valid values as long as they are specified as expressions in the Type of Value column.
Type of Value Indicates the data type of what is entered in the Values column.

NOTE: cBase properties are not related to Server Settings properties.

The cBase Columns panel lists columns to be created in the new cBase. It also indicates a total count for the columns.

Column Name

Indicates the unique name for the column.

Column Type

Indicates the type of data in the column. Valid values are boolean, date, datetime, double, fixed100, integer, period, and string.

Source Indicates which object is the source of the data.
