Working with Workbench Sessions

A Workbench session is a saved state of connections, projects, and open tabs (see Sessions Overview).

This topic describes how to save, load, and delete Workbench sessions.

NOTE: There are several Workbench startup preferences you can set to automate how Workbench opens, such as setting Restore last project session so that upon opening a project, all of the files open to the state when you last closed the project. See Startup Options for more information.

To save a Workbench session:

  1. Click File > Save Session.

    The Select Session dialog opens showing everything that is open in Workbench.

  2. Deselect any items you do not want saved in the ClosedSelect Session dialog box, and click OK.

  3. Navigate to a location in the Save Workbench Session dialog box, provide a name for the session, and click Save.
    Note the file extension wbs is used for the saved session.

To load a Workbench session:

  1. Click File > Load Session.

    The Select Workbench Session dialog opens.

  2. Navigate to the saved session wbs file in the Select Workbench Session dialog box and click Open.

    The ClosedSelect Session dialog box opens. Here you can choose which project files you want to open by selecting or deselecting individual items, such as connections, projects, or individual files.

  3. Deselect any items you do not want to open (if any) in the Select Session dialog box and click OK.
  4. Your Workbench session restores and you can resume work from where you left off.

To delete a Workbench session:

  • Navigate to where you saved the Workbench session file (wbs) in Windows Explorer and delete the file.
