Focusing Data

The focus feature allows you to direct attention to selected rows or columns on the active window by removing the unselected rows or columns from view.

On a tabular display, when a focus is in effect on rows, the first row label shows Subtotals instead of Totals because the numbers in that row are a sum of the focus rows, not the entire dimension. On a cross tabular display, if a focus is in effect on columns, a Subtotal column shows the sum of the focused columns.

On a plot graph or map, you can select column labels, bars, points, or areas of interest to focus on.

To use the focus feature on a tabular display:

  1. Select the rows or columns on which you want to focus.
  2. Do one of the following:

    • On the menu bar, select Organize > Focus.
    • On the toolbar, click the Focus icon focus icon.

The unselected rows or columns are removed from the dive window.

To revert to the unfocused view, do one of the following:

  • On the menu bar, select Organize > Stop Focus.
  • On the toolbar, click the Stop Focus icon Stop focus icon..
