Adding an Environment

On the DivePort title bar, select ADMIN > Environments.
The Environments dialog box opens.

Click New.
The Add Environment dialog box opens.

In the Name box, enter a name for the new environment, and then click OK.
- The new environment is added to the environments list, and DivePort assigns an ID to it.

To customize the appearance of an environment, click the chevron to the left of the environment name, and select Settings.
The Environment Settings dialog box opens.
- Edit the settings that you want to change, and then click OK.

To allow or restrict user access to the environment, click the chevron to the left of the environment name, and select Access.
The Environment Access Settings dialog box opens.
- Use this dialog box to change the default access or add users or groups, and then click OK.
- Click OK to close the Environments dialog box.

On the DivePort title bar, select ADMIN > Environments.
The Environments dialog box opens.

Click Import.
The Import Environment wizard opens.

Browse to the location from which you want to import an environment, select a portaldb file, and then click Next.
The Import Environment dialog box opens.
- Select an environment from the list, and then click Next.
- An Import Environment confirmation box opens.

Click OK.
The imported environment is added to the Environments list.

To customize the appearance of an environment, click the chevron to the left of the environment name, and select Settings.
The Environment Settings dialog box opens.

Edit the settings that you want to change, and then click OK.

To allow or restrict user access to the environment, click the chevron to the left of the environment name, and select Access.
The Environment Access Settings dialog box opens.

If the default access allows, DivePort users and groups can access the environment. Use this dialog box to grant users or groups with non-default access rights, and then click OK.

Click OK to close the Environments dialog box.
- If any users, groups, or portlet types are found in the imported environment that do not exist in the current portal, you will see a warning to that effect. Missing users and groups are ignored.
- Portlet errors, such as Cannot locate Marker cause an error indicator to display on the toolbar. If this occurs, you can edit the page to modify the portlet instance.
- The environment ID number is preserved, resulting in duplicate IDs on the portal.
- If you copy a page, the Page ID is preserved.
- When DivePort searches for an environment ID or page ID, it uses an algorithm to find the closest environment or page with that ID.
- If you are using click actions that span environments, and you import an environment with click actions, links between pages in the original environment are preserved and links in the new environment work as well.
