About Document Viewer Portlets

Document viewer portlets are an easy way to include a document from your library on a DivePort page. Depending on the document file type, the portlet displays either the actual document or a link to the document, which, when clicked, opens the file in a separate window with the appropriate application software.

For example, a portlet with a pdf file displays the pdf file on the DivePort page, but a portlet with a xlsx file displays a View document link, that when clicked, opens the file in a spreadsheet application that you specify.

The Document Viewer portlet uses your browser's built-in document viewer. Because Internet Explorer does not ship with a document viewer, the Document Viewer portlet shows a View document link by default. However, you can install Adobe Acrobat Reader (for free), and then restart Internet Explorer to see pdf files embedded in the page.

If the portlet displays a file type that cannot print to pdf, such as a txt file, and you select Print to PDF, the pdf output renders as blank.

NOTE: Document viewer portlets require an additional license to use.
